Travel Service Notes

Last updated · 2026-09-30

These notes cover the practical details of travelling with Teochew Travel. Please read them before confirming your itinerary; if anything differs from your itinerary confirmation, the confirmation prevails.

What is included

  • Typically included: private vehicle and driver-guide, selected accommodation, the cultural experiences and meals listed in your confirmation, plus tickets and reservations within the itinerary
  • Typically not included: long-distance transport to Chaoshan (flights, high-speed rail), visas, travel insurance, personal expenses and optional extras
  • Every itinerary confirmation lists inclusions item by item — please treat it as authoritative

Visas and entry

China's visa, visa-free and transit rules vary by nationality — confirm the latest requirements with the Chinese embassy or consulate in your country, or through official channels, before booking flights. If you need a trip itinerary or invitation letter for your application, we can assist once your booking is confirmed. Carry a valid passport and observe customs declaration rules on arrival.

Best time to visit

Chaoshan has a subtropical maritime climate. October to April is cool and comfortable — ideal for old-town walks, walled villages and roots journeys; April–June is the rainiest stretch; July–September is hot with occasional typhoons. If a typhoon or storm affects ferries or outdoor experiences, we will confirm alternative arrangements with you before departure.

Health and safety

  • Itineraries revolve around walking through old-town lanes, markets and villages — comfortable shoes are recommended
  • Tell us about food allergies or dietary requirements (vegetarian, halal and so on) before confirming your itinerary
  • When seniors or children join, we pace the day and limit walking distances — let us know your needs in advance
  • We recommend travel insurance that covers medical costs and emergency repatriation

Cultural etiquette

Ancestral halls, family homes and villages are living spaces for daily life and ancestor worship; we arrange visits according to local custom, so please follow your guide's lead. Always ask before photographing people. There is no strict etiquette for gongfu tea — your host pours, you simply enjoy.

Before you depart

  • Check the dates, meeting time and meeting point on your itinerary confirmation
  • Ensure your passport is valid and check whether you need a visa
  • Send us your flight or train details so transfers can be arranged
